Introduction to Smalti Online
Our signature Introduction to Smalti Workshop is now available to you at home live online. You will explore the rich, colorful, traditional glass material known as smalti in two, three-hour sessions.
During the course of the workshop, students will create a 5" x 5" smalti artwork with the the kits that we will ship to you before the workshop. You will have the opportunity to learn about this unique material, it’s history, applications and cutting approaches.
The workshop includes demonstrations on cutting with a hammer and hardie, a brief lecture on production of the material and it’s applications as well as examples of works created with smalti. Students will learn a lot about this versatile material as well as texture, and color and contrast. This is a great way to get comfortable and excited about smalti for your own work!
