5-Day Collage and Mosaic with Pamela Irving - NEW!!
In this NEW 5-day workshop, Australian artist Pamela Irving brings her novel and inspiring approach to “thinking in pieces”. Students will be introduced to paper collage techniques, making a paper/cardboard based collage to create a “drawing” reference for mosaic. Participants are encouraged to explore any subject through figurative, landscape or abstract collage.
Over the course of the workshop students will use interpret collage into a mosaic and find creative ways to represent their paper formed collage with “mosaic” materials. Those materials could be anything including smalti, glass, slate, chinaware, wood veneers, plastics etc. The resultant pieces will inform students about interpretation by exploring new ways to make work. Students will also learn to consider color, texture, form and the juxtaposition different elements placed together to make a finished work.
All materials are included. No prerequisite.
When registering for classes at CMS, please be aware of our refund and cancellation policy.
Pamela Irving is well known throughout the world for creating works that are full of color and character, whimsy and subversion. Her large-scale installations can be seen around the city of Melbourne, most notably at Luna Park and Patterson Station (an international mosaic mural collaboration which she facilitated over several years). Pamela’s use of materials- broken china, found objects, and ceramic shards shows her unique approach to mosaic art.
