COVID-19 and CMS March 15, 2020
Dear CMS Friends, The Chicago Mosaic School (CMS) is a community-based, small, not-for-profit business that cares about you and our community which reaches not only across the street, but across many borders in our local community and beyond. As Executive Director, I have been monitoring the ever-changing COVID-19 virus updates and closings that impact all of us in our daily lives. Up to today, we have implemented additional measures and precautions – including a cap on class sizes – to create an environment for our community that is as safe as possible. Despite these best efforts, I must now make the extremely difficult decision to close The Chicago Mosaic School and cancel all classes and workshops until April 30, 2020. We ask that our loyal community members hold your existing payments as a credit towards a future class or workshop here at CMS in lieu of a refund. In the meantime, we remain available and excited about our future plans for providing an awesome community art space, unparalleled offerings of classes, workshops, visiting artist seminars as well as groundbreaking art exhibitions at our Gallery of Contemporary Mosaics. I hope that you stay safe, clean, and know that The Chicago Mosaic School will continue to provide programming that inspires and encourages you to keep creating. CMS, along with many small businesses, plays a very important role in our society by facilitating the experience of joy and community connection through art in our busy and challenging world. We feel a strong responsibility to serve you through this time as a community that has birthed art, friendships, and inspiration. Thank you for being part of our family. On a closing note, I want to share that we opened a new exhibition just last week, fittingly called “Mi Familia.” Although you may not be able to see the exhibition in person, we have printed beautiful catalogs that are available on our website. Finally, if you have the means and ability, please consider supporting us with a contribution as we navigate these uncharted waters together. Even the smallest gift can make the most significant impact that will help us recover from a completely unprecedented challenge this year. With Love, Wellness and Gratitude, Karen Ami Founder & Executive Director
