The Marc Drostle Scholarship
CMS is proud to announce two exclusive scholarship opportunities for artists at the start of their career. The scholarship honors a young artist who was part of our community. Marc Drostle was a cherished and talented artist with a passion for nature, drawing, graphic novels, and mosaics. For most of his life, he collaborated with his father, mosaic artist Gary Drostle, in his studio in London, helping create and install murals and mosaics in Chicago and abroad. He was well known and loved by many of us at CMS. This need-based scholarship provides currently enrolled or recently graduated art students with financial assistance to attend classes and workshops at The Chicago Mosaic School.-
Local Scholarship applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and include:
full tuition for seasonal workshops (6-8 weeks)
$1500 stipend for food and travel expenses
These courses will be taken over the course of a quarter.
-
Out-of-Town Scholarships for Summer 2027 will be accepted April 1st 2027 through May 20th 2027, and include:
Full tuition for seasonal workshops (6-8 weeks)
$1500 stipend for food and travel expenses
Housing at CMS residency for the duration of the program
To be considered for the CMS Marc Drostle Scholarship, applicants must demonstrate a desire to learn mosaics as part of their art education and professional development. A panel of CMS faculty and selected professionals will review and choose recipients who demonstrate a desire to further develop their voice, skills, and understanding of the mosaic art form.
We hope that by attending a workshop at The Chicago Mosaic School, the recipients will be inspired to grow creatively in their personal work and push themselves into new artistic territories.Application Requirements
