2023 Beard & Belly Mural

“Momento Mori” is a mosaic mural designed by London-based Artist, Gary Drostle, and installed at Beard & Belly located in Edgewater, Chicago. It was built and installed by Drostle and CMS students during Drostle’s 2023 CMS Visiting Artist Workshops- Designing and Creating Mosaic Murals and Mosaic Mural Installation. The Latin phrase “Momento Mori” meaning “remember you must die” reminds us of our mortality and can be practiced through remaining present and grateful as we enjoy the time that we have in this life.
